Because it's not portable? and introduce special cases in the code, etc.

The philosophy behind media:/ is to have several backends, one being truely 
portable and simply guessing (the fstab one), the other ones being specific 
to a platform. It simplify the code a lot and avoid having loads of #ifdef 
everywhere.
