Problem with your post is: in reality there is no much competition. If
there was competition, there would be already at least two full featured
DVI viewers. Looking first time automatic grouping of KDPF, KDVI, etc.
is no brain idea. But without taking into account some specific
functions it will make more harm than gain.

For example: KPDF searching interface is nice. But in fact it is much
weaker then team Vim+KDVI with forward/inverse dvi search.
