I have done this on purpose. I didn't want to introduce another resource, like 
for example an app that is running in the systray (like kdeautorun). This 
way, when the user doesn't use it, no resources are used.
medianotifier could be seen then as a part of the Media Manager software.

I don't think it's intrusive. The user is actually taking action to plug in a 
device, so I think it doesn't have to be passive.
Well, it's only a draft version, so an option "Never bother me again" is a 
very valid one I think.

I looked at the kcm module of kdeautorun and think I could use it very well 
for medianotifier too.
