I would rather have:
a) enum KPassivePopup::Style {
Normal,
Commic,
CurrentModeTrent, // like the one used in the kicker in kde3.4 for instance
}
and being able to set kpassivepopu to a a style, or
b) KPassivePopup* popup = new {KNormalPassivePopup()|KCommicPassivePopup()|..}
As for binary compatibility, be sure to check out
http://developer.kde.org/documentation/other/binarycompatibility.html and
especialy "Using a d-Pointer".
