If there is going to be a configuration for DPI, let it be the correct 
one: the DisplaySize entry for your X server.

If it misdetects, configure manually. Changing the DPI arbitrarily is a 
not a good idea, IMO. KHTML does that and has proven problematic in some 
circumstances (bug report open, I think).

Besides, if you later decided to change resolution, your DPI setting would 
be stuck and you'd have to remember to change it. If you fix it in the 
right place, this won't happen and the DPI will be adjusted accordingly.

And, btw, I don't think 96dpi is the most common setting. 1024x768 on a 
17" would be 75dpi, whereas on a 15" it would be 85dpi. (1280x1024 on a 
17" would be 94x100dpi)
