If I get it right, spell checking capability is what you are trying to get.  
Currently KDE supports three of them (ispell, aspell, hspell).

There are some algorithms to compute the distance between strings (levenstein, 
soundex, etc.) but I don't know an implementation in kdelibs.

I can't see a generic usage area for such a functionality in KDE _currently_. 
Desktop search services can benefit from that though.
