I was wondering exactly the same thing. I think that Kate/KWrite uses space= s=20 for indentation and that's the problem. If you go to configure editor, you= =20 will notice that there's an option which says "Use spaces instead of tabs f= or=20 indentation and you can specify the number of spaces the indentation will=20 have).=20 I'm not really sure, but I suspect it's something with that.
