My suggestion did not require that _everyone_ continue to use 
autotools,  merely that they were still available for apps that still 
need them (or that had not yet migrated to a new build system).

That would still allow the vast majority of KDE apps to move to a new 
build system, without using autotools.

What's the problem with having that choice?
