Exactly :-) sending out a mail asking for help did the usual catalytic 
magic and I discovered QObject:installEventFilter(). Only problem, it's 
not working as expected but I'll try a bit more myself before bugging 
you again.

Hours later...

Oh boy this was driving me crazy, I t really took me hours to realise 
that I have to install my newly compiled version. In kchart everything 
is in a library and "./kchart" is only a dummy, calling the old, 
installed library over and over. This leads to strange effects, like 
the debugger stopping 10 lines behind the point where I set the 
breakpoint.
You never stop learning...
