It sounds as if there is a need to gather some systems information on this
issue to determine if there is a common theme.

I decided to test using two different systems.  The error message on the
failed system was a frequency in the hundreds every couple of minutes.  I
will include the log below, but the gist is that the system burns the
CD/DVD and then seems to be satisfied. However, when the disk is ejected
and the tray closed, the non-stop errors begin.   This can be seen in the
logs.  I did some various testing, and I was able to stop the loop by
inserting an existing burned CD...  some 7 hours later.  :)
