The config.log doesnt seem to say anything significant, heres a few
lines..

kde_includes='/usr/local/kde/include'
kde_kcfgdir=''
kde_libraries='/usr/local/kde/lib'
kde_libs_htmldir='/usr/local/kde/share/doc/HTML'
kde_libs_prefix='/usr/local/kde'
kde_locale=''
kde_mimedir=''

kde_qtver='3'
kde_servicesdir=''
kde_servicetypesdir=''
kde_sounddir=''
kde_styledir=''
kde_templatesdir=''
kde_wallpaperdir=''
kde_widgetdir='/usr/local/kde/lib/kde3/plugins/designer'
kdeinitdir=''

Strange as the second last line there shows that it seems to be picking
up some kind of widgets directory, but im still getting the same error.
Changing into the kdewidgets directory and reinstalling them like you
said doesnt work either.
What else can I try?
