If the Fedora users start complaining that they don't have KDE, that it
won't work on Fedora but everywhere else, and they start bugging the
Fedora developers, maybe they'll get a clue.
The proper solution is to fix the bug where it is, not to create
workarounds. As current facts go, it seems that the bug is in Fedora's
glibc. So that's where it should be fixed.
As for RH8 & 9 not having KDE binary packages, I'm sorry to say, but
it's not an issue. Few are the distributions that actually do release
packages for previous versions. A quick look at ftp.kde.org shows that
the there are binary releases for KDE 3.2 for more than one version
only for SuSE (8.2 and 9.0) and Debian (stable, woody, if I'm reading
it correctly). For KDE 3.2.2, SuSE adds 9.1 and Debian has no packages.
All the rest of the binary packages seem to be for one distribution
version only.
