It is a debugging program that allows you to discover programming errors, such 
as freeing memory twice or losing a pointer to a block of memory (the memory 
leak).  It also has a mode that measures the hit of a running program on a 
processor's cache lines, which allows you to optimize your program.  
KCacheGrind is a very nice frontend to that feature.
