It was a typo. I've changed it to -lqt-mt and it builds but it still
crashes.

I don't think that's necessary, never seen it before.

It should be -lqt not -qt but I guess that was a typo.
On KDE3 systems Qt is usually used in its threaded version named qt-mt
Try -lqt-mt instead
