a) Spring
b) Probably some networking layer for dcop would be good?

Roey on #kde-devel: šwhen I hear best of breed I tune out--it's too much a 
buzzword. šWhat I carry between my legs is best of breed. šAnd like KDE, just 
because it's less visible doesn't mean it gets less usage.
