it is possible (nautilus does it) but (as far as i can see) that means doing 
it all in qt's qiconview which has several problems:
1. i don't belive trolltech will ever accept it (and they will be right!)
2. if you want it as an option (programing option - and you want it) - it'll 
break binary compatibility, so that means only qt 4.x (or more likely 5.x)
3. you won't be able to re-implement/change it in a style.
