How about:

trash:/food/1
trash:/food/2
trash:/food/3

If there is only one copy, trash:/food is equivalent to trash:/food/1. 
Otherwise, it shows the three copies.

I think my idea may very well be a bad one, but hey, let's get the discussion 
going!
