Is there perhaps a package: "cupsys-dev" that you need to install?
If not, then could you please post the relevant section of config.log. E.G:
configure:35040: checking for cupsServer in -lcups
configure:35071: /usr/local/bin/gcc -o conftest -ansi -W -Wall -pedantic -Wshadow
-Wpointer-arith -Wmissing-prototypes -Wwrite-strings -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE
-DNDEBUG -O2 -march=k6-3 -mcpu=k6-3 -O2 -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT -I/usr/local/ssl/include
-I/usr/gnome2/include -D_REENTRANT -I/usr/kde3/include -I/usr/local/qt-3.2.3/include
-I/usr/X11R6/include -L/usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/local/qt-3.2.3/lib -L${exec_prefix}/lib
conftest.c -lcups -ldl >&5
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lcups
And, where are "libcups.so.2" and "cups.h" installed?
Do you have a file or link: "libcups.so"?
