Subject:    QListView selects hidden items

When a QListView widget works in extended selection mode, selecting a
range of items also marks all hidden ones. I was wondering if this is a
bug, or a
desired behaviour. 
I would like to allow a user to filter items in a long list, and be able
to select the visible items only. However, the QListView developers
obviously had something else in mind. Any suggestions?
