I had no idea updating this file affects kdebase as well. Why does 
kdebase check for java anyway? libgcj.so is brought by the debian
ligcj4 package in debian brings libgcj.so into /usr/lib, which gets
searched by the javapath search earlier in the config (very hackish,
sorry).

If you point --with-java=/opt/java, the configure check should pick
up the libjvm.so under the lib directory there and use it instead
of libgcj.so. If (since?) this is not the case, I need to fix
the check.

sun/blackdown jni.h needs the jni_md.h which should get added to
the include path if libjvm.so is found in the javadir.
