It is always difficult to write newbie guides. They have to be short, and to
the point, and that means lots of nuances missed. Here's what immediately
struck me as odd:

1) It's fairly rpm-centric. That is not necessarily bad, as it is used by many
distroes, but if you don't use rpm the entire "preparing & QT Libraries"
sections are useless. So I think you should tell your reader up front ("These
sections are rpm-centric; if you use a distro such as Mandrake, Gentoo or
Debian, this section will not be much use to you").

2) There really is no need to set the default runlevel to 3; or at least, I
don't. I just start an additional X-server. While a guide to do this is
probably beyond scope, the possibility should mentioned, IMHO. If you want, I
could probably write how to do this --- it's not that hard. I would like
someone to test it, though...

3) One thing that never mentioned is that when doing the initial checkout
things can be sped up tremendously by downloaded a nightly snapshot:
 a) download the relevant tar-ball from
<ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/unstable/snapshots>
 b) unpacking it in your ~/src/kde in your tutorial
	tar -jxvf <tarball.tar.bz2>
 c) cd <package-name>, e.g. kdebase
 d) cvs update
This procedure should also save the CVS servers from much work.
