I have seem to have broken ARK and don't know how to correct it.  

My system:

Version:           v2.1.9 (using KDE 3.1.9) (CVS 20030827)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.2.2 (Mandrake Linux 9.1 3.2.2-3mdk)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-0.25Win4Lin

I had reported bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63257  which
noted that I could not add files to an archive via a right click in
Konqueror/Actions and I got an error 

"Unknown Archive format or corrupted drive."  

But, at the time of the bug, I could drag and drop files into a new
archive.

Now, the problem has escalated.  ANYTIME I try and create a new archive,
no matter what type WITHIN the ARK program, I get that message.

So, right now, ARK is crippled.  File Roller works fine though FWIW.

What did I do?  Nothing really changed other than keeping up with CVS. 
I do have KDE 3.1 installed, but my PATH is set correctly with the NEW
KDE path occurring before usr/bin.
