X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kde-devel&m=106138465913583 Hi, I agree that it wouldn't be a good idea to try to guess what the user wants. But that does not imply we should not have media automounting facilities. Of course this should be part of the underlying system, but as this is a wanted feature and there is a way to make it, why not? It should also be configurable enough for the user to decide on wheter he wants a default action being executed every time (like opening a Konqueror window for data discs) or a list of options (i. e., everytime a disc is inserted, the user would be presented a dialog asking wheter he wants to browsw it using konqueror, execute autorun.sh, rip the cd if it is an audio one, etc.). -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 On Wednesday 20 August 2003 14:26, Gav Wood wrote: > On Wednesday 20 August 2003 11:25, Matthias Wieser wrote: > > Gav Wood wrote: > no. i don't call having to manually mount a medium, start a console, enter > the directory and execute "autorun" a good thing, especially for those > users who have never met a console in their life and just want to install a > game. Imho the point matthias wieser wanted to point out is that you don't know wether the user wants to install the game or just inserte the cd because the game needs data-files on it to run...
