Yes, Craig.  That small addition to the Makefile.am file in viewpart
corrected the compile abort.  First I thought it was related to bug
59656 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59656 , which deals with
multiple versions of installed QT libraries.  This is my case.  I run
KDE 3.1 and QT 3.1.  I am compiling KDE cvs 3.2 and use QT 3.2 with it. 
Of course, all environment variables are set correctly! Thank you for
the workaround here.
