I wouldn't add symbolic computations simply because I don't think the 
calculator-style UI is not the most suitable for that. 

Being able to more freely (de)select the different modes is certainly a big 
win. I think there are quite a few people that just want to add a bunch of 
numbers and having all the other fancy buttons is probably just a 
distraction. 

As for the units stuff, you may want to check out
