talking w/Pupeno on IRC, he apparently doesn't need this anymore... but to
answer the question, the method that shows/hides the speedbar is protected.
but it's a slot, and IIRC QObject::connect doesn't obey
public/protected/private directives so you could just connect then emit a
hideSpeedbar(true) signal to the method and get around it. nasty. hacky.
probably works, though. =)
