I get this error in kdemultimedia:

This Makefile is only for the CVS repository
This will be deleted before making the distribution

*** Creating configure.in
*** Creating aclocal.m4
*** Creating configure
*** Creating config.h template
autoheader: `config.h.in' is unchanged
*** Creating Makefile templates
*** Postprocessing Makefile templates
replacing of already substituted string (lookup "kmix_la_SOURCES\s*=[ 
\t]*(.*)") at admin/am_edit line 2293.
make[1]: *** [cvs] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

I get something similar for each language subdirectory in kde-i18n, which 
looks like:

*** Creating files in de
autoheader: `config.h.in' is created
replacing of already substituted string (lookup "DISTFILES\s*=[ \t]*(.*)") at 
../admin/am_edit line 2293.

it doesn't choke on this error, but no message translations get installed in 
the "make install" step.
