Looks nice, but maybe could be a bit boring ?
How about making it "wobble" ?
Maybe e.g. for z(x,y)=sin(y)*cos(x)
z(x,y,t)=sin(x)*cos(x) * sin(t) with t running while the screen saver is 
active ? (or something in this sense)
