Well, I really wasn't firmly against requiring it for pkg-config, either.

Having it in PAM, or some audio lib KDE can utilize, or used by pkg-config I 
don't really see as much of a problem. The issue I have is using it in core 
KDE components that developers should be able to parse without knowing glib. 
There is quite a difference here.
