Eh, nah. My friends think I'm a little nuts but hey... ;)

Seriously though, this would add a lot more to the customisability of the 
system for GNU/Linux distributions or for that matter corporate offices. 
(Other than the ability to fool your boss into thinking that you're running 
one of those other commercial OS'.) To get the User info, I think that making 
that a reusable widget would be a Good Thing(TM). Mainly for the sake of 
other applications like POS systems.

As far as functionality is concerned, I agree that we need some standards in 
the UI design and probably a few warnings to the user about using certain 
theme types that I can think of (an XP-ish one would look great on a home 
system, however, on a LDAP network... :| )
