Hi,
if you want to do Quanta then I really doubt you want to start with a Red Hat
source RPM. The problem I've had with support is that they packaged our 3.0
pr1 and it was _NEVER_ meant for distribution, only to fill a gap until a
final release could be made. If you're already going to be making RPMs it's
not that much more difficult to start with source. I would highly recommend
picking up either 3.1.1, a clean CVS build (most days are) or a build from
the 3.1 branch.

Here's why. The parser in 3.0 was adequate for smaller files and reasonable
systems but quickly caused problems on large files. 3.1 was improved. Shortly
after the 3.1 release Andras had finished an extensive resource and speed
refinement. Not only does Quanta use very little cpu time but the parser is
orders of magnitude faster. It parses rediculously large files between keys
strokes and with optimizations to reparse only the relevent node it will be
very impressive. I'm not sure if the optimizations are complete or how
backporting has gone but I would target a newer build for sure.

Cheers,
