I think the bad quality is because of the low resolution of the printer. Hwo 
do you construct your printer? Try the following constructor:

KPrinter printer( true,  QPrinter::HighResolution );

Qt will now try to print at 600dpi. Perhaps you have now to scale your image 
up, to fit the page!
