Here's how I added kde-cvs to RH 8.0 aso that I can have multiple KDE's
I can log into:

Edit /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/<NameofKDE>
Edit /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession
Add to the section commented by
# now, we see if xdm/gdm/kdm has asked for a specific environment
...
     <NameofKDE>)
        exec -l $SHELL -c "$SSHAGENT
/usr/share/apps/switchdesk/Xclients.<NameofKDE>"

Create a /usr/share/apps/switchdesk/Xclients.<NameofKDE> file which contains
exec <LocationOfKDE>/startkde

Create /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/<NameofKDE> that contains something like
#!/bin/bash
exec /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession <NameofKDE>

<NameofKDE> is whatever you wnat KDE to show up as in the login manager.

HTH,
Tim
