That's a known problem with some OpenGL libs (like the nvidia libraries). Just 
use the libGL.la from the mesa package.

Agreed. But I don't think the split will be possible for kde 3.1 as the 
decision about the 3.1 final is tomorrow. You came a bit late with this 
discussion. The kdegraphics package contains KPovModeler for 7 month now and 
none of the core developers objected.

Any comments from the core developers? The release coordinator?
