We had to make the same decision for KDevelop a while ago. All good keystrokes
are already occupied:

shift-arrows: Mark words
ctrl-arrows: Jump between words
ctrl-shift-arrows: Mark words
alt-arrows: back/forward navigation in browser

ctrl-tab (MS way to switch mdi): switch virtual desktops

ctrl-pgup/pgdown: goto top/end of file
shift-pgup/pgdown: mark prev/next page

We finally decided to use alt-pgup alt-pgdwn.

I'd really love to see a KDE system-wide key for switching sub-windows, what
about alt-pgup/pgdown? (There is a clash with kate which uses this to jump to
next/prev bookmark, but that can be fixed).

Best regards,
Harry
