I cannot imagine that this requires DCOP.
How would you DnD to a non KDE app then?

The QDragObject docs say that it an be use for DnD inside an application 
and between applications:
"QDragObject is the base class for all data that needs to be transferred 
between and within applications, both for drag and drop and for the 
clipboard."

I guess that you will get 0 from target() if the target Widget is not 
from the same application.
