Hi Richard,

I'm using the same configuration.

For kdebindings, David Faure told me that he fixed this problem just after the 
tarballs were made. Upgrade with cvs.

For kdebase, the FTC is FreeTypeCache from Freetype2. Slackware ships only 
freetype-1.3 (I think) but Freetype2 is also include with XFree (/usr/X11R6)

For i18n, I didn't got that message, only a pb in a russian file. Can't help 
you on that one.
