Just to be sure I'm doing things right: here's a little test program that
1) get current date
2) get 01/01/1970 UTC in local form
3) compute difference between the 2 in seconds
4) create a new date with the diff result as time_t

If I understood it correctly, the date at point 4) should be the same
as the original one. In my case, I get 1 hour shift.
