Try to enable 'Java Console'. Does it open in a separate window ? If not, 
doublecheck your path to the java executable. If it opens, are there any 
error messages ?
Give as many hints as possible to be able to reproduce and track down the 
problem.
There have also been quite some changes to the java handling in konqueror 
since KDE 3.0.0. Consider to upgrade to >= 3.0.2
