I have a similar problem - kppp from 3.0.2 won't connect; 3.0.1 version
works. 
Couldn't find any source code differences between the versions though; I

wonder if kppp pick up all its configuration from ~/.kde or if there's
other 
configuration that needs to be moved elsewhere
