kdm isn't automatically restarted here, in fact even X is taken down by a 
killall kdm, probably because it was spawned by kdm.

One more reason then to shut down KDE after an update. I guess I'll stick with 
init 2 and init 5. Only once so far this procedure failed to terminate kdm, 
so I had to kill it manually. Well, maybe killall kdm isn't a bad idea, then?
