   KDE does not contain SOCKS support internally.  It depends on an existing 
SOCKS installation.  NEC and Dante are two SOCKS clients.  We support either 
of those two.  We might support others by chance if the API is close enough.  
We do not provide a configurator for those clients though.  You must 
configure them yourself.  Then we will load the proper library when network 
access is required.  If SOCKS is missing, we fall back to non-SOCKS.  If 
SOCKS is misconfigured, then SOCKS misbehaves and we can do nothing.

  Yes it needs much more work, but we have basics at least.  It's a great 
candidate for anyone who wants to jump in.  I can list exactly what is 
missing, in detail.
