From kde-devel Sat Apr 27 05:06:26 2002 From: Zack Rusin Date: Sat, 27 Apr 2002 05:06:26 +0000 To: kde-devel Subject: Registry editor X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kde-devel&m=101988398624181 Hi, please no punching, spitting or biting. Yesterday, I found myself going=20 through the rc config files of some KDE applications and thought that=20 it might be actually kind of cool to have a tool like registry editor=20 on windows. I looked at kdenonbeta and since I didn't find a tool like=20 that I wrote one for myself. After using it for a while I decided that=20 someone else might find it just as usefull, which would justify=20 maintaining it for me. For now it can search, change, add and remove=20 both keys and values. It's super simple, should probably be written as=20 a control center module and doesn't warn you when you try to change=20 anything ( yes, you can break some stuff by using it, just like with a=20 windows version of registry editor). It probably would be kind of cool=20 to add ability to control other key:value based config files, like e.g.=20 Xdefaults, and ability to export and import configurations but someone=20 would actually have to find a need for it, because it already does what=20 I personally wanted. Let me know what you think. Oh, and of course a=20 mandatory "how does it look like" thingy: http://vortex.bd.psu.edu/~mus11/kregedit.png Zack =2D-=20 Keep your friends close.
