Or ctrl-w. I don't know if this is the standard shortcut for close, but 
it at least works in kate. (and mozilla :)

I don't know if im the only one, but i really prefer not to use more 
than one accel key at a time as i find it quite akward. (as in ctrl-w 
as opposed to ctrl-shift-w)
