Yes, please use libkabc (in kdelibs/kabc) for KDE 3 programs.

Have a look at the headers. If you were able to use libkab, I'm sure you 
will have no problems with libkabc ;-)

This sounds very useful, could be interesting for kdepim.

libkab isn't part of the public API of KDE 3 anymore. If you need help 
with porting your app from libkab to the new address book API, please
