I've just investigated this:
a.) I could not find a libXft available separately from XFree86.
b.) I took libXft from XFree86 4.2.0 and tried to compile it!
It depends on the XRender X-Server extension !!!
All in all: This is a rather unpleasant situation for us non-Linux people
because Xft is not easily available and even worse: It depends on a
special X server extension!
Any cure for that? I don't know what it means for karbon to be compiled
without FreeType but I suspect that it makes it quite useless, doesn't it?
