That is because KWord has priority over Kate. That is unfortunately the
default. (I have no idea how to change the default in general.)

However, from the KWord point of view, I have to have a dialogue. It will
even have more option in future (at least one not to modify the text.)

I would recommend not to use KWord ASCII (or Plain Text) import filter for
now. It has been unmaintained for long and I have just stripped down a few of
its features to make it work again. Nevertheless, a few problem still exists.

If you want to change the default of the text file view for you, the user,
you have to:

- Open Konqueror.
- Click with th right button on a .txt file.
- Choose "Edit File Type".
- In the dialog, click on the "Embedding" tab.
- In the list box of "Service Preference Order", select "Embedded KDE
Advanced Text Editor".
- Click on the button "Move Up"
- Clisk on "OK"

In the past, it would have been worked now. However, in the KDE version
that I have, it does not work immediately. Perhpas something must be started
again (Konqueror or perhaps even KDE.)

I am not sure, but is this not the keyboard mode?
