garbage is right -- and .X.err is loaded with it, 57k five minutes 
after starting kde3, so it's gonna take awhile to sort it out. in any 
case, at this point it's not a disaster; i drop out of kde chiefly to 
compile kde or qt.

while i'm here -- is there a liquid theme/style/whatever for kde3? the 
old one won't build using kde3/qt3; mosfet's page says he's ported it 
to qt3 but offers no source cource; and i think i read that he's 
rejoined kde development.
