FYI

The KDE bugtracking system has no understanding of the concept of "attachment"
which means that attachments stored in the bugtracking system are basically
not retrievable.

Since that is a situation that is unlikely to be fixed anytime soon, I thought
it would be better to reject attachments to start with. I was reaffirmed in
this thought recently when someone decide to send along a core-dump of
several MB since he thought that would be usefull for me to track down a bug.

It must be said that the html page of this particular bug on bugs.kde.org
served later as a great benchmark for khtml but for practical purposes this
is rather inconvenient.

So now a few perl lines further and bugs.kde.org being down for an afternoon I
am happy to announce that bugs.kde.org works again and that you will get the
message below when you send an unreasonable large message to bugs.kde.org.
Unreasonable large happens to be everything larger than 1000 lines. Which is
equivalent to an attachment of about 50Kb or so.

I hope you appreciate it.

Cheers,
Waldo

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at master.kde.org.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<submit@bugs.kde.org>:
Thank you very much for your feedback. Unfortunately your message is too
large for the KDE bug-tracking system to be processed.
This may be caused by an attachment.

Please do not send attachments to the bug-tracking system, instead store
the files that you want to send on a safe place on your harddisk and
mention in your bugreport that you have additional information available
on request. When this information is needed, a developer will contact you
and will ask you to send the files to him or her in private email.

This procedure will also ensure that possible private information
that might be contained in core-dumps, screenshots or logfiles will
not be publicly available through the KDE bug-tracking system.

Alternatively you may also choose to publish additional information
on a website or ftp-site and mention the url in your bugreport.

Please note that it may take several months before a developer needs
this additional information. You will be automatically notified when
your bug-report has been handled.

For now, your message HAS NOT BEEN PROCESSED, please resend according
to the instructions above.
