Hi!
  I think it's not universal enough. An user can e.g. grab an audio CD and
totally fill his disk, although he had still 500 MB before a short while.
The "warning daemon" would check the disk space every few second for this
to work.
  And what about an "emergency file" ? During first KDE login for an user,
KDE would create an (empty) file, e.g. 1 MiB long, somewhere in the $KDEDIR
hierarchy. This file could be used for emergency purposes i.e. when the
disk becomes full, and some config could be stored there.
